School Wide Implementation of Trauma Informed Practices: The Voices of Experience
The prevalence and impact of childhood adversity are increasingly becoming part of the conversation regarding the challenges students, families, educators and communities face in 21st Century Schools. A number of schools have begun the journey of addressing these challenges, utilizing a school-wide approach to implementing trauma-informed practices. This presentation will focus on the daily experiences of school leaders and their teams, describing what worked and did not work, the key elements for success, as well as challenges, surprises and initial outcomes. Findings are derived from a survey sent to school leaders from approximately 85 schools in 13 different school districts.
